Summerland Labradors is a small AKC hobby kennel
located in Southern California (Near the Wrightwood Area)
The Labrador that started our love affair with this breed was our yellow
Labrador, Belle. She is smart, loving, a great foot warmer and a very loyal
family member. From that point on we knew there would be no other
breed of dog for our family. Our love for our Lab has been the driving force
behind our desire to be involved in all that these dogs can do. We have
worked with our dogs in the obedience ring as well as the conformation
ring, and although we haven’t been involved in field trials as of yet, we are
looking forward to having them trained for field work as well. Our
intentions are to produce an all around Labrador that can curl up at your
feet or run with you through the fields.
We breed the English conformation type Labrador and breed mostly blacks
and yellows, occasionally we will have chocolates. We only breed 1-3 litters
per year and every breeding is planned months or even years in advance
with the intention of keeping something to show or to continue our lines
and build on the dogs we have. We will only keep on average 4 adult
Labradors so that we are able to give them the proper exercise,
attention,training and the wonderful life that they deserve.
Our goal with each litter is a healthy, sound, beautiful Labrador that
represents the highest standard of the breed.
Our dogs are gentle, loving and patient with our children, happily
tolerating the "busy" antics of five young kids. We will always strive to
produce a Labrador with correct temperament.
All of our puppy’s parent’s must pass all the appropriate health clearances
before they are considered for breeding. We certify our dogs hips and
elbows through the OFA-Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and
CERF-Canine Eye Registry Foundation for their annual eye clearances.
These health screenings give your puppy a much better chance of being
free from such genetic diseases that are common in Labradors.
